The Summons and Complaint and the Return Date

In Connecticut, a foreclosure action is commenced through the service of a Writ, Summons and Complaint. These documents contain a date called a "return date." The return date, which is always a Tuesday, is the date that an Appearance must be filed by the Defendant. Connecticut allows a grace period of two days following the return date in which to file the Appearance.
