Chase Bank v. Client

Chase Bank sued client in the Superior Court of Connecticut in Bridgeport for damages in excess of $25,000 as a result of client's alleged default on two Chase credit cards. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We aggressively defended client and were able to negotiate a settlement on both accounts, resulting in client only paying Chase 40% of the balance purportedly owed.

Chase Bank v. Client

Chase Bank sued client in the State of New York for over $15,000 as a result of client's alleged default on a Chase credit card. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We reviewed the history of collection attempts with respect to the alleged account and filed a counterclaim citing collection abuse and unfair and deceptive trade practices. Our efforts on behalf of the client resulted in the parties executing a mutual release of claims and the client owing no money to Chase.

Discover Bank v. Client

Discover sued client in the Superior Court of Connecticut in Rockville for approximately $10,000 following client's alleged default on a Discover credit card. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We were able to negotiate a settlement with Discover resulting in client only paying 55% of the alleged balance owed to Discover.

FIA Card Services (Bank of America) v. Client

FIA Card Services sued client in the Superior Court of Connecticut in Rockville for approximately $15,000 after client's alleged default on a Bank of America credit card. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We vigorously defended the case and were successful in negotiating a settlement whereby client paid only 50% of the balance allegedly owed to Bank of America.

Capital One v. Client

Capital One sued client for damages exceeding $6,500 in the Superior Court of Connecticut in New Britain. Client never responded to the lawsuit and Capital One obtained a default judgment against client. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We successfully filed a Motion to Open and Vacate the Judgment. We defended client and negotiated a settlement with client paying 60% of the balance allegedly owed to Capital One and no judgment appearing on client's credit reports.

Bank of America v. Client

Bank of America brought a foreclosure action against client in 2008 in the Superior Court of Connecticut in Hartford. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. In court proceedings spanning well over five years, The Woods Law Firm, LLC successfully and aggressively defended client in the foreclosure action and was able to negotiate with Bank of America, resulting in Bank of America extending a loan modification to client, which enabled client to save home.

Central Mortgage Company v. Client

Central Mortgage Company commenced a foreclosure action against client in the Superior Court of Connecticut in New Haven. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We successfully defended client in foreclosure action, allowing client to receive a loan modification and save client's home.

Nationwide Advantage Mortgage v. Client

Nationwide Advantage Mortgage brought a foreclosure action against client in the Superior Court of Connecticut in Hartford. Client defaulted in the action and Nationwide Advantage Mortgage obtained a judgment of foreclosure against client and sought to auction client's home. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. Four days before the sale, The Woods Law Firm filed an appearance and a Motion to Open and Vacate the Judgment. Attorney Woods successfully argued that the client had a strong defense which he should be able to pursue in the litigation of the foreclosure. The Judgment was vacated by the Court. The Woods Law Firm, LLC was further instrumental in persuading the Court to allow client to participate in mediation. Client participated in mediation, and ended up receiving a loan modification to save the home.

RBS Citizens Bank v. Client

RBS Citizens brought foreclosure action against client in the Superior Court of Connecticut in New London, and obtained summary judgment as to liability but not to damages. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We were able to convince the Court that mediation was appropriate in this case, and, after close to two years in the mediation program, successfully obtained a loan modification for client, enabling client to save the home.

Consumer Solutions 3, LLC v. Client

Consumer Solutions 3, LLC started foreclosure action against client in the Superior Court of Connecticut in Hartford. Client retained The Woods Law Firm, LLC. We negotiated a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure where client was able to obtain $15,000 from lender in exchange for agreeing to release a potential Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act counterclaim and vacating the premises.
